Trilobio is a robotics startup in San Francisco building automation for the biology research process. As a mechanical engineering intern, I designed and prototyped an eight channel, individually actuated pipette tool for the robot.
Each of the eight channels needed to sit 9mm apart center to center, all while staying within tight limits on weight and cost.
Modeled and iterated on several prototypes in Onshape, applying DFM and DFA principles throughout. Built each version with FDM and SLA 3D printing, then analyzed tool accuracy in Python.
When the ejection disk stopped ejecting properly, I ran a full investigation to find the root cause and correct it.
The work above reflects where the pipette tool stood at the end of my internship.
