Open Design Project

My team designed SPLASH, a suction-mounted shower organizer with french-door access and drainage holes, through a full semester-long product design cycle. I led the team: dividing and assigning tasks, keeping us on deadline, and assembling the final report.

01. Research

User interviews

Interviewed potential users to understand real pain points with existing shower storage.

02. Ideate

Converge on a concept

Brainstormed a wide range of ideas before converging on a new type of shower caddy.

03. Prototype

Cardboard to Fusion 360

Built a cardboard mockup to catch early issues, then modeled a fully functional version with sourced hinges and suction cups.

04. Test and iterate

Refine the hinge

Refined the hinge design after prototype testing to improve stability and security.

Outcome

Best Presentation

Won Best Presentation at the end-of-semester showcase. For mass production the main body would move from 3D-printed PLA to thermoformed plastic, with off-the-shelf hinges and suction cups and cut-and-crimped synthetic rope handles.
